Wood, Glue, and spray

The complexities of getting 26 images framed, protected and ready by Friday is a rocky road. Will the wire hold all the images, probably not so a reduction in number of images to be shown, but which ones do I take out. Niki and I have been able to reduce it to 18 but I think it may be too much. Do i try and use the other wall at Britomart, is it too late to be trying to change things with the guy at Britomart. The devil is in the detail and hopefully this devil will be put to rest before Friday.

The good news is I took one of the images completed and hung it on the wall at the station, and yes it looks good. I would like to think that people will like what they see.

Oh, and jsut as I am drilling the holes in the wooden frames to hang them the drill goes flat. And if course the person I borrowed it from is out for the day with the charger....

Christchurch Cafe culture exhibition

The support is really helping out with the exhibition. Huhtamaki and San Marco are behind us, and there is a chance that Canon may as well. We have approached the New Zealand Coffee Roasters Association as well and we almost have the funds to pay for everything. There will be about 30 images on display, varying sizes from A4 to A3+. The images will be mounted on wood that has been stained dark brown and has a bevel on the edge. Images will be printed on a high quality Ilford paper called Gold silk Fibre, highly recommended for exhibitions.

We have been doing some tests and the results look very good. All that is needed now is a protective coat that can be applied to cover the photo and the wood surface to make a sealed unit. Fingers crossed that by next week this has all been tested and works.

So by the end of next week we are printing and mounting the images for teh exhibition...

New Cafes

Auckland is in a constant state of change, much like our lives really. Over the last few weeks Niki and I have seen a number of new cafes worth a mention. Espresso Workshop originally of Epsom, are now in downtown above the Britomart train station. Next door is a lovely new French place that you can have Allpress coffee and pastries bought in all the way from France. We went there last weekend at it was lovely.

But our favourite new place is Hum, photos and the story to follow soon

Exhibition and printing

We have a plan that might actually work. Using temporary fencing, plywood, and photos we can tell a story that will work.

We have also played with prints and decided that an Epson matte heavyweight paper has the best production of colour.. Stay tuned to see some photos of the layout..
