Christchurch Cafe culture exhibition

Hi everyone,

Epson are very supportive and will provide some level of help to get the exhibition off the ground. I have been talking with a company in the States and am looking at getting A2 prints that are fused into metal plates, gives brilliant colour and a sense of permanence that I am sure the cafes will appreciate. A number for these and around 20 A4 prints that are framed and glassed is what will be in the exhibitions. First Auckland, then Christchurch and after that gifted back to the cafe owners and staff

More soon.

Capturing history

When Niki and I visited Christchurch we took over 700 photos of cafes and scenes around the central city and Lyttelton. I have just been going through them and have a list of 369 good photos. As I was reviewing all these photos I realised how much of a piece of history we had captured.

Having these photos displayed at an exhibition is my priority, both in Auckland and Christchurch. It won't be all the photos at the exhibition, but those that aren't will be on the website. For some these images will be very important, capturing a memory of something lost since the quake.

The Auckland exhibition is being held in June and if anyone reading this would like to help with the project please feel free to make contact. I am more than willing to devote my time and energy to making this happen, will you lend your support?

Okay this had better work

Well did it

So lets try this

does it work

Are we there yet

I would like to post my blogs entries to Facebook and Twitter. Sounds easy doesn't it. Well it is, but I want to make sure that Twitettes (those who use Twitter) get the full post. And Fabs (those who use Facebook) get the photos.

Hopefully what I have just setup will achieve that.

Can anyone tell me what the photo is of?

What you see

The other day I walked past an art gallery on high st. An Australian artist was displaying sculptures of what is a pivotal point in human history. As I stared at through the window at this giant sculpture I could also see a reflection of our present point in history.

I Hope you enjoy and have a splendid weekend..

New website

Hi,

in the next few weeks there will be a new website up and running. This is in preparation for the photographic exhibition that will be held in June. Niki and I have developed what we do well, writing, photography and having fun.

Being creative is an important part of our lives and having fun with it is a prerequisite. I photographed an ape, and a Skytower, stay tuned for an interesting photo

Its all about colour

So to create a great image, I need to know that the colour is right. To do this I need a standard by which to measure the colour. Not all monitors are the same, and even the light that falls on it has an impact.

The image I see is the image I want you to see. So monitor calibration is my next step. And yes this is not a cheap process, good monitor calibration systems range from around $200 up to $1000.

Maybe I should just wing it, Kiwi's are really good at this..

Lightroom

Over the last few weeks I have been desperately trying to find a solution to review 17,000 photos so I can pick the best 500. I love now officially fallen in love with Lightroom 3.3. It is brilliant, and made the job a real pleasure, well except when I was pulling out my hair

Where back

After not keeping anyone up to date with what we are doing, it is finally time to make amends. The manuscript is with the publisher and we can breathe. Well at least a little, Niki is flat out with school, Ruby broke here arm, and I am preparing for a photographic exhibition to showcase some of Christchurch's cafes.
