Researching Art Kane

I chose Art Kane as a photographer to study because he was listed under editorial and this is something I would like to delve more into. The first photo I came across was a beautiful sea portrait of a  very young Sony and Cher. Boy how times have changed.

As I browsed through his work I was impressed by his range of images. He does editorial, fashion and a little inbetween.

I picked these two images as they are so unusual for a portrait. The second one of Aretha Franklin was taken quickly when he was unable to have a fast shutter and yet it captures a certain mood.

Mick Jagger in his heyday, such a sense of style and shot from a great angle

 Unusual portrait, commanding yet fragile.

Two of my favourite women shots, their elegance can even be captured in a space suit.

This shot he is famous for, a group of Jazz musicians and how did he get them all together, happy. I believe it was all done within a morning.

Oriental style and the nude. A great fashion shot..
My last photo I chose because it combines landscape, patriotism, and a woman's beauty. The composition and colour really attracted me.

All these images can be seen from his website at http://www.artkane.com/

Enjoy
